Identify Punchcards
"I've used lace cards on my bulky to select needles, so I can manually hand transfer to create lace" ~Rebecca
NOTE: Lace carriages are only available on standard gauge machines, but the punchcard device on the bulky doesn't know that . Let the punchcard select the needles and transfer them .... brilliant!

Wilma T Singer, silver reed, empisal 5 rows down. Brother 7 rows |
Mary Ann B Right Dawn. Me too. |
Dawn W Sue thanks! Would love to know how to punch a lace card for the LC2. |
Nancy Z singer 700 standard bed: I believe is 5 rows down from line showing above edge of feeder. |

Mary Ann B I have a 700 and have the lace carriage. Love it! |
SANDY W She's back!! |
Carol D I haven't done any lace with my Brother yet, but did I interpret that we use the regular carriage as well as the lace carriage? |
Lyn R I got a kh890 and kh260. My punch card works on my standard but not my chunky. Think it just got a got of built up gunk in the mechanism. |
Wilma T I got it with the 360L lace carriage, so I am such a lucky girl (and a ribber as well) |
Mary Ann B I love doing lace, Jean |
Jean S when I got my first knitting machine I was lucky enough to have my husband buy the lace carriage at the same time..... |
Nancy M sounds like a fun time coming up for you. |
Wilma T Cannot wait to fetch it and start using it. |
Wilma T Started out with a punchcard machine in 1987, used it for years. Then came my brother KH940 and last week I bought an old punchcard machine again Empisal 360 with built in knitradar. Being cleaned at the moment |
Will it work to put up our map now? |
Matthew F we can just do new things |
Matthew F you learn something and then they change it on you. That the great thing about our machines.. the rules do not change! |
Carol D Off topic, but is tomorrow's sock class going to be done this way, or zoomed? |
Sue J J almost there |
Nancy M at least it helps keep our brains learning new things |
Matthew F yeah - the entire Live Youtube Studio changed since the last time we used that as a streaming platform |
Mary Ann B One thing about the knitting machines. Not too many changes. |
Mary Ann B You are right about that Nancy. |
Nancy M don't worry Mary Ann...as soon as ee get it figured out they will improve it again |
Jean S Always learn so much.... |

Matthew F You have to hit the PLAY button to start the live feed |
Matthew F Dawn - Yes working fine |
Denise W yes please |
Jean S yes and also, using a patticular card to work on larger items like panel blankets etc. |
Jean S How do you figure out the stitch count for how many needles that will work out to complete patterns....e.g some knit patterns are repeats of 5 + 3 etc. |
Dawn W Is the Live actually going on? |
Nancy Z I'm jumping between cards for Singer & Brother. I've run into Red ink, green ink. |
Dawn W Oh dear, thanks! |
Leo B Thank you I got it now. |
Lyn R Drawn sound fine here |
Jean S Dawn....the sound is fine here... |
Dawn W Does anyone have sound? I've refreshed at least 10 times. |
Jacqueline O On the topic of Finding ROW 1: I have several sets of cards for different machines I have collected over the years. It took me a while to realizse I could figure out how to position/find ROW 1 without any yarn before swatching...just use the carriage to see which row is being read and which row is visible as it is the next row to go in the machine. |
Leo B Do you have to program repeats? Can we avoid multiple repeats' |
Rebecca S I have used lace cards on my bulky - letting it select my needles, then I hand transfer |
Leo B On an eectronic do you have to input multiple designs or just one? |
Denise W hi. Denise from UK |
