Lifelines: A Knitter's Best Friend

Ellis L
Hi sue, can you explain again how you finish ends as you go, as, up to now I have sewn in ends when finished.
Sue Jalowiec
@Eileen :-)
Eileen
I started machine knitting because my D_I_L was pregnant with twins and I did not handknit fast enought for twins!

NEW
Sue Jalowiec
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Sue Jalowiec
@kelly ... you are not alone - the time thing has messed us up for 2 weeks ... someone even tried to join us yesterday :-)
Kelly C
OK Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Sue Jalowiec
The replayis processing now ... it should be up within an hour
Sue Jalowiec
@jean ... Plus where I am, we don't change for Daylight savings ... makes things even more confusing

whoops...
Sue Jalowiec
we just finished
Kelly C
Oh so you haven't started yet.
Sue Jalowiec
Or use https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/
Jean S
I have grandchildren that live back East and in Australia so I use the World Clock app on my phone to match time zones. If we didn't have to deal with daylight saving time etc. we would all be fine.
Sue Jalowiec
@kelly - google "what time is it in Phoenix? to compare
Eileen
I schedule knitting on my calendar and treat it as an appointment. It works for me,
Sue Jalowiec
@kelly - 10AM MST - 11 PST - 12PM EDT
Kelly C
Will someone give a clue about times?
Eileen
I have no echo
Kelly C
I thought the time was from 10 am till 11 am?
Marie-Jo C
See you next Tuesday ! Thanks a lot

I think I was late as well.
Kelly C

Wilma T
Have a great week and happy thanksgiving!

Pauline - enjoy your turkey week. Have a great time and eat too much!
Annie L
Let's see the red dress plan...
Wilma T
Exactly, I end up with too many options and knit nothing if I’m not careful.

Lara - I can't WAIT to learn more about lifelines. And I have a 3 tier rack as well for my yarn. Will definitely be looking in to the drawer inserts for the tools. Lost one once being used as a bookmark.
Annie L
Do new edging swatches.
Jean S
Yes, Nancy thats so right! I was always taught....how do you eat an elephant...one bit at a times. Even half and hour at a time will result in knitting projects being finished.
Nancy M
in planning, divide the project into smaller units or steps.
Gio R
Yeah good idea, setting a timer. Next time I will try that, Sue
Wilma T
Yep, me too, I spent way to much time on Ravelry and searching my knitting books.
Sandra B
I will check, but didn't see any bad needles
Jean S
My machine was jamming until I realized I had a bent needle. Replaced the needle, cleaned the machine and now back on track.
Gio R
Yess, that takes the most of the time, looking on Knit it Now, Facebook, Pinterest etc.. ;-)
Sandra B
Trying to figure out why the machine keeps jamming up, not sure if it's something I am doing or the machine

How do you store cones of yarn? Mine are stacked up on the floor as I cannot find anything suitable to hold them all? Pauline
Marie-Jo C
What a good idea, Jenny !
Jean S
Not making notes about where I left off so I can carry on.....make continuous notes
Sandra B
Trying to figure why th
Jenny M B
I have 3-tier vegetable rack on wheels next to my machine. Holds everything!

Pauline - I never thought of that Sue - a great idea to hang claw weights on a piece of knitting.
Annie L
An organized work area. Setting up each time is enough to stop the process.
Nancy M
that is why it took me a week to trim my first lenvelope...
Annie L
A bent needle causes dropped stitches in the same place.

I enjoy knitting, but arthritis is limiting my hand knitting efforts

Yup! I'm guilty too (I'm Lara in Los Gatos & not sure why my name isn't showing up this week)
Marie-Jo C
I feel feem frustrated using time' to practise .. not proud of this !!

Perhaps you could make it for yourself now Sue! Pauline
Jean S
at our hand knitting group I can often rant about not swatching. It is sooo important!
Nancy M
If you don't make mistakes you aren't knitting.
Nancy M
mine problem is getting more ideas while knitting.

probably. I have a massive fear of trying to pick back up stitches. And I do tell myself to just practice more.

I’m happy to finally have the time to see you live, Mary Ellen from SaddleBrooke
Leda C
The machine kept messing up!

Keep your machine set up. Make room for it somewhere in your home. Five or 10 minutes a day accomplishes a lot. Always make notes where you are in your project.
Deborah D
no space to properly block swatches and knit pieces
Jenny M B
I was just hooked on machine knitting from the time I first saw one. Had to wait about 10 years to get one.

I was fascinated when I went to a knitting machine exhibition in 1986. Pauline
Nancy M
Love the forum!

I started knitting for my family. Especially my daughter and my mom. For years I knitted socks for maybe 10 people. Never for myself. Phew, I now realise I still do that. Need to make more for ME.
Magda C
hallo from Italy, Magda xx
Nancy M
I thought my automatic knitting machine would be auto matic and i would be able to have the machine knitting while I did other things...
Jean S
Thought it would be quicker than handknitting....well sometimes it is
Byron M
i never found a sweater that I really liked and if they were not my pricerange and it become a great hobby
Deborah W

Carol D
