Stitch Pattern doesn't match

It's been a busy couple of weeks at Knit it Now. 

Our mailbox has been overflowing .... Keep 'em coming, and keep us on our toes!

I have an old Brother machine with "dead" electronics how can I knit this Fairisle stitch pattern?

You CAN knit this by manually selecting needles.  Remember, the electronics just selects needles for you. It's the carriage that controls the yarn.
  • Manually select needles each row (pull them to middle position)
  • Set your carriage for Fairisle
  • Put yarn in both feeders and knit!
You'll have to do this each row - make it easier:
  • Create a home-made needle pusher with a hard plastic or stiff cardboard
  • Create a "cheat" sheet to help you select needles

The vintage pattern tells me to cast on 70 stitches .... but that doesn't come out right

Your stitch pattern is a multiple of  8 plus 2.

In other words, if you want the blocks of color to match at the side seams of your sweater you'll want to cast on in groups of 8 AND add 2 Seaming stitches

So you'll need to cast on 74 or 66 stitches and adjust the stitch counts for the rest of the pattern.
