Remember you will need a table or surface wide enough to support your machine's new width

Old and new machines
Carefully remove all the needles from the needlebed (you will be removing the sponge and they will fall out) Video: How to Remove the Needles

Old Machine:
Identify where the pieces join (turn the machine over if you need to make it more clear)
Use a blade to slice the number strip

Turn the machine over and remove the 4 screws holding the bracket in place

Separate the pieces.
Remove the sponge

New Machine:
Repeat the steps above
Remove the sponge and join the old piece to extend the new machine
Repeat for the 2nd extension piece if desired

If joining 2 pieces of sponge, align the edges so the needles are on either side of the split and are supported.
