Short Row Hoods
Suggested by fellow knitter Nancy M, this hood is a great alternative to other styles.
1 Seam the shoulders and pick up along the neck opening.
2 Neck Band:

4 Complete short row shaping:
5 Optional band:
1 Seam the shoulders and pick up along the neck opening.
If knitting a pullover, cast on the hood separately and attach to the neckline when the knitting is complete
2 Neck Band:
Knit for 1-2" (or the desired depth)
3 Begin short row shaping:Manual Wrap
- Opposite the carriage, put 1 needle into hold
- Knit across and wrap
- Opposite the carriage, put 1 needle into hold
- Knit across and wrap
Repeat until there are 2" (child) 4" (adult) stitches in work. For a pointed top, knit until there are 2 stitches in work
4 Complete short row shaping:
- Opposite the carriage, put 1 needle into work
- Knit across
- Opposite the carriage, put 1 needle into work
- Knit across
Repeat until all needles are back in work.
5 Optional band:
Pick up stitches along the neck band and knit for 1-3". this band will circle the face when worn.
