For an interesting play on color, try one-row stripes! Use as an all-over pattern, or intersperse single rows of color here and there. This could also be used to break up color pooling with variegated yarns.
Note:
Keep your row count in mind when using this technique. When you free pass, the row counter advances, but you haven't knit a row. You need to manually adjust the row counter each time. (If the row count is even, the carriage should be on the right.)
