Take 1 pattern and make it 4 ways. Let's talk about my recent journey to knit the "perfect" summer top ... boo-boo's and all!

A pet peeve:
I hate when someone shares something they made and say "I knit this ... but look where I messed up"
(arghhh!!!!). I hope you don't do that!

BUT .. I'm going to share where I struggled with the hope that you will avoid my mistakes.

Here's what's planned for the LIVE
  • Planning your project
  • Change the neckline
  • Add bust darts
  • Play with yarns and stitch patterns
  • Combine hand and machine knitting
  • Sleeves (or not)
  • Hem options
  • Finishing techniques
  • Cut 'n Sew
  • Avoid my boo-boo's

    Ruth S
    FBA
    Mary K
Would short rows help to make a cowl?
    Eebie C
nope i didn't didn't have any, the linello was great too, no bias
    Nancy M
lining wont help BUT an excellent mattress stitch seam will hide it some.
    Nancy M
ha ha! like the time I was in such a hurry I forgot to dress my sample and the 38" chest rayon top became a 54" bust!!!
    Addie S
    lining
    Karin R
I'm knitting presently with a badly biased yarn, but It's perfectly OK with rib... just not stockinette
    Addie S
do you think a linning would help??
    Eebie C
that yarn looks like linello...we seem to like the same colors , I've knit a simple Tee with linello on my lk150. And I've used the same color of summer sesame as the top your wearing!!!
    Marie-Jo C
    Thank you, Sue !
    Priscilla D
Susan Guagliumi's long stitches with a twist.
    Nancy M
    love that sideways knit!
    Nancy M
just make sure you make it the right width to go around your upper arm nicely.
    Gwen A
How do you do that lace pattern on the machine I just love it
    Gwen A
I want make that pink one with that lace
    Marie-Jo C
Is it possible to add long sleeves to theses garments ?
    Gwen A
That sweater with those mistakes are so small , it's still beautiful
    Mary K
side slits: I often short row because the edges hang longer
    Ruth S
Theory of the five P's - proper preparation prevents poor performance. My motto and I seem to test it all the time..
    Nancy M
found that a nice worm trim will cover thatwonkyness
    Marie-Jo C
    Anyway, your picot hem looks great.;
    Joy G
Sue, for the picots, could you have knit with a higher tension?
    Nancy M
a ha the boo boo was NOT swatching stockinette
    Karin R
does the bottom of that top roll up?
    Morag W
    Design feature
    Karin R
side slits often cry out for some anti-curl-plans... another thing I often avoid (side slits, not planning)
    Nancy M
that's a designer detail not a boo boo
    Jenny M B
I'm with you, Karen and Nancy!
    Cherie S
