Wouldn’t you just increase to the number of stitches you would normally cast on.? It seems like you’re looking for a spiral type affect on the head.

On your original example of the diagonal shawl, is there any sewing or making up required or does it just get draped when you are wearing it?

Patricia H
Jenny M B - I thought so, mine did that once!
Maurie H
with a serger you can do a rolled hem and that does prevent a lot of curling, you do not cut of the edge just do the rolled hem all around.
Juavue H
There are design stitches that will help tame the curl. I have played with that but haven't used it on a shawl.
Matthew F
lol
Jenny M B
Sorry about the above - cat on the keyboard!
Marjorie M
Yes, I have twice the number of rows as I do stitches.

Won't blocking help eliminate the curl?
Scott V
sewing machien serger wont work cause you need to iron it forst
Juavue H
Use your sewing machine or surger is what I was suggestion. I usually crochet.
Matthew F

Juavue H
to tame the curl on a shawl
Matthew F
we can do the map any time!
Juavue H
You can do a decorative machine stitch or you your surger use a decorative thread. and do decrotive thread.
Marjorie M
I am playing with a hand knit pattern that is built up out of square blocks. I did a test square in normal stockinette. Of course it did not work out wonderfully. I have made another test the block using one by one tuck. I had to play around to get a gauge that would work. But I am able to make a square. I particularly wantedDimensions that would give me two rows for each change of the pattern. This was design purposes for doing the pattern and having color changes come out on even Rose. It seems to have made an acceptable square. I have yet to finish blocking it to be sure. It is very promising.
Tina B
it looks like crochet around the edges afterwards in the picture
Mary Ann B
The echo slipped back in.
Susan H
