Jacqueline O
Thank you Sue! Lovely to see you.
Nancy M
if you have a brilliant idea of how to do something, make good notes...IF it fails keep those notes as you WILL have that idea agin st it eill save repeating the failure.
Marie-Jo C
Sandra, What about a crochet band?
Bettina B
I would like a check list, too, really good idea
Judy P
wipe your machine down before you start
Wilma T
A buttonband in 2 pieces, seam at back neck sometimes works well
Darlene S
excellent thank you
Maurie H
I sew everything by hand
Sandra Rupnik
Hello everyone. I just joined the group chat. May I please ask what you should do if you don’t have enough needles to do the button band on a cardigan? Thank you
Linda H
I just realized about the notes in Knit it Now patterns. I will use that feature.
Joan W
I love the finishing effect I get from my linker
Judy P
notes - be sure to date
Judy P
wash and let rest. nnotes
Maurie H
If you have washed your swatch then you should be okay to knit, sew and wash.
Nancy M
have you tried measuring a garment that fits you the way you want it too?
Marie-Jo C
Thanks for your answers, Wilma and Maurie. Good ideas, i'll give them a try! Thanks for your advice, Sue.
Bettina B
my last project, i tried the sewing on machine, tried my linker, then sew it by hand as always, that i can neatly enough.
Nancy M
it does help you remember to sit or stand tall.
Nancy M
if you tend to slouch over your machine try one of the many posture helps that has a light weight at the back and you slip your arms through
Wilma T
I totally agree Sue, finishing is so important
Cherie S
Me too Maurie...
Juavue H
On the pattern that I am doing is I print it then I add any of my notes that I need. I also alway look at the side notes to my pattern and watch any video that it says.
Maurie H
I print them off and leave my lap top open at the pattern so if i need more help I have it.
Hanna M
I got it working, thank you
Lyn R
We had KAL once where we were trying to knit different items so they all measured the same size
Cherie S
I use blue ink for anything I note regarding the left side of my pattern, and red ink for the right side. It helps me really keep track of what I've just done and what I need to do next.
Jacqueline O
This is amazing. Love the putting the note in the pattern!
Wilma T
Guilty or make them and don’t understand what I meant
Judy P
wish mine would. just made swatch of truboo - gorgeous washed it was a dull rag color drape
Catherine Z
I'm Old and I have too many distractions. Taking notes is a must for me.
Cheryl S
I Have read about people not blocking but sewing it up throwing it in the washing machine and it's good to go. Is this recommended?
Wilma T
under the armhole and over the bust, torso width
Maurie H
Marie-Jo try knitting one size smaller.
Wilma T
Marie-Jo C, I often have that issue. Now I measure under the armhole and measure my shoulder width. Rather busty, so if I use that measurements it’s always too wide. Now I use darts
Cherie S
My local yarn shop lets me purchase one ball of yarn and will put away the rest of the same dye lot for five days. That gives me time to figure out my swatch, dress it and figure out how much yarn I need before I return for the final purchase.
Maurie H
notes are very important for you will forget , but the notes are there to tell your brain that is what you did the last time.
Robin B
Any tips on good note-taking? I’m still struggling trying to get into good habits keeping notes.
Nancy M
it is not cheating to make detailed notes along the way.
Marie-Jo C
My garments are often to wide! I think I add too much ease. How can I add just what is necessary?
Nancy M
unit construction was what we called it in sewing home ec.
Judy P
and wash, let rest
Morag W
There is never enough time!!
Wilma T
That’s what I use them for all the time, safe until repaired
Nancy M
those pins are great for catching dropped stitch before they can run.
Wilma T
Good idea Nancy
Nancy M
yes
Maurie H
I found that out the hard way.
Nancy M
get some safety pins or markers to insert at the designated needles.
Morag W
I did what you said about swatching & was told by an exppert that it wasn't right so they got heave ho!!
Bettina B
i confess, i am still (in different degreees) guilty of all these points, just the sweater-style i have control. You can add, don't wish for something to knit you are not ready for
Joan W
Also you need to swatch different colours of the same yarn. Found that out!
Morag W
Yes i'm doing plating just now
Nancy M
don't forget there's such a thing as negative ease...
Judy P
how about plating
Maurie H
Don't we all learn the hard way.
Wilma T
Learned the hard way of course Maurie, but it was a really good lesson 😉
Maurie H
Neat idea Wilma
Wilma T
