Submitting some answers to your questions for Live event. I cannot join live, but will watch replay. I started machine knitting after I retired, for a challenge of learning something new, and because I love the look of knitting but am unable to do because of rheumatoid arthritis. I started following Knit It Now because of all the good info, to learn new techniques, for the patterns, and to help me be a better machine knitter. Goal is to be able to make sweaters and other garments, and to be more creative by adding my own design ideas. Absolutely love your site! And the pod casts! Stephanie
I started hand knitting some years when a friend agreed to teach me. The church were knitting prayer shawls and I wanted to help. After making several afghans, I decided hand knitting was too slow for me. Find a Silver Reed dealer and bought a SK280 (of course, I now have several Brothers). So I joined Knit It Now to learn more. My top goal is to make a knitted dress and pants. Linda

Sherrie B I really would love to explore jacquard with the ribber and I also have the six thread automatic color changer and I'm afraid of it. I had it operating once, but now it just stares at me. |

Nancy M The chat times like this are great brainstorming times...got my knitters block un done. |
Hi, would love a weekly club! It's hard to find experienced knitters willing to share. I am new to machine knitting and eager to learn. |
Sherrie B Carole. So glad you're interested in the same thing! |
Lucinda L The website is http://www.knittinguniverse.com/SoCal2018 It was great! knitting, crocheting, sewing, weaving! So sorry to miss Sue. I was there Friday afternoon and someone said she was on a break. So I went back and still didn't see you! |
Betty E J enjoy these Tuesdays, get to learn and hear from other machine knitters. No clubs in Mobile Al that I know of Love Knit It Now |
That was me...Jean S from the Kootenays. My machine is a Silver King with an additional lace carriage. |
Sherrie B I agree with Kate. Sending pics would be great. |

KATE C I really like that you are willing to create machine knitting courses from patterns we find on ravelry. |
Jean G Hi from Mesa. Like your shows |
Nancy M Having friends that will help have a good laugh over your experiments and oops . And turning it into a positive experience. |
Carole M Sherrie - I adapted the Felfs pattern (felted footwear for families) to machine. You start by knitting and felting a swatch first so you could do that on any machine. Did 10 pairs one Christmas. |
Silvana J My aunt started knitting in the early 60's and I grew up watching her and always wanted to try it for myself. Unfortunately, I was never able to buy my own machine and learn how to knit until I was an adult. I love my machine, but it wasn't until I discovered Knit It Now. Your videos and instructions are a MUST for anyone who wants to learn. |
Claire J How can we find out about the knit show in Pasadena you went to |
Hello from the much colder West Kootenays.....I would love to lace work on the machine. Still struggling. |
Sherrie B I will! |

Betty E J thanks again Matt |
Matthew F Working on the Map LOL |
Betty E J how is the map coming of users? |
hi! |
hello |
Nancy M the camaraderie I miss the monthly meeting and the bi weekly workshops we had alternate between studio and brother dealers... |
KATE C The whole course work format is fantastic. It is all the knowledge you need to learn, just as you need it. The videos are excellent but the dynamic patterns make it possible to use any yarn and machine you have. |
Sherrie B Really enjoy the live event and look forward to it each week. The website is great. Love all the classes. It's like an online machine knitting university. |
Nancy M The courses are fantastic, |
KATE C My goal is to challenge my brain and use my hands to create beautiful useful things. |
Eleanor L Machine knit socks happen quickly and are among the most comfortable to wear. |
Michelle F Knit it now is for the awesome visual tutorials for me 100% |
Betty E J shout out to Matthew! |
Eleanor L Today it is to have a one of a kind and the satisfaction of creating. |
KATE C Yay Matthew! |
Nancy M You are my knitting machine club and support group! |
Matthew F Brenda we have a full course on the LK150 |
Jamie D Nancy's sweater is older than I am |
Sherrie B That is so great Nancy! |
Carole M Sue - thatâs me - knitting for local professional theater |
Nancy M Right now I'm wearing a sweater i made in '76 |
Brenda H Just got a LK150 and finding resources in print available in Canada is very difficult. Getting materials across the US boarder takes forever. Does anyone know of Canadian resources? |
Nancy M Brothers had several interesting stitch books that had the garment patterns |
Sherrie B So worth the quality! |
Michelle F My goal now, after finding out how much of an overlap of handknitting there is with our craft is to show them this and hopefully get more interested in starting up yet another fibrecraft. |
Jamie D I think of it as economical, because what I make lasts longer than what I can afford to buy |
Jenny M B I started machine knitting about 40 years ago but dropped it for a few years. Knit a lot for charity now. I'm not adventurous or imaginative but Knit It Now encourages me. |
Betty E J I like the idea of making something that's one of a kind |
Nancy M that quote is very 70's... |
Sherrie B That's what I was thinking. Not with the price of wonderful yarns today! |
Sherrie B Started in the early 80s. My goal now is to make gifts for my loved ones. |
Betty E J hello from alabama |
Zee B Hello from South Africa. |
Nancy M Carol, I know, my only daughter won't wear knits either. |
KATE C yes, that's right! |
Eleanor L Saw first Brother machine 1963. Bought a Brother machine 1977 and became a Dealer. 1984 went to a store space. 1990 added Passap machines. 1991 took business back home. Retired in 1995 and went to full time work. Loved every minute of being a dealer. Gave lessons, workshops and designed garments. |
Nancy M Love knit it now because we no longer have mk clubs in our area and our last yarn shop in Wichita closed |
Carole M ter, so it stated under the bed for 17 years. Then started to use it for me and costume knitting. |
Sherrie B Me too Carol. Just figured it out today. |
I started knitting to keep my mother from going crazy. Not sure it helped but I was five and she had other little children that needed attention. Then forty years later she gave me her knitting machine and accessories. Not I need to learn! |
Carole M There was a knitting shop that carried machines next to my workplace in 1978! I figured I would have several kids who would all wear sweaters, hats, mittens. Turned out I had only one and he would not wear a swear |
Lucinda L Because I was interested in using up my yarn at a faster rate! |
Sherrie B i went to a sewing seminar and there was a vendor with Brother machine knitting machines and I fell head over heels in love. |
Carole M Hi from VA - got the time differences figured out today! So glad to be with you! |
Lucinda L Sorry to have missed you at the Pasadena Convention Center. I was looking forward to it! |
KATE C I started machine knitting because I was a needlepointer with a closet full of finished canvases and decided I wanted to do a craft that was useful. I wasn't a hand knitter but had a friend that was a macine knitter. She set me up with a used brother and feel in love with it. |
Nancy M I knit for fun and profit. I own and run Nancy's Nice Knits and have a booth at the Kansas Grown Farmers market in Wichita. I use KS raised and processed alpaca yarn in some of my high end items. |
Nancy M Am still using 601 but have adopted a 800 and a bulky and a brother plastic bed midgauge. Still need to learn midgauge. The goal for this Winter |
Sherrie B Sound is good again. |
KATE C Kate C. in maryland. Good morning everyone |
Sherrie B echo is back. Sorry. |
Sherrie B Now. You knit two slippers and use one as the lining. |
Matthew F Sue.. echo sorry |
Nancy M why I started mking... saw machines in use at yarn and clothing shops while we were stationed in Thailand in early 70's... my hubby bought me a Brother 601 automatic knitting machine for our first anniversary. Been mking ever since. |
