Can the sleeve be shaped by putting needles in hold then knit a row take off on WY therefore you have sts to pick up or does this not give you any ease.

I prefer to use mattress and Kitchener instead of backstitch.

I notice you don't mention mattress stitch to set in sleeves, but I use it, carefully working out how to match stitches to rows where necessary. Hate doing backstitch!
