Marie-Jo C
Thanks a lot, Sue. That's what I'll do !
Sue Jalowiec
@marie-jo don't forget the pattern is Perfect Fit .. you can adjust the length for the number of needles available
Sue Jalowiec
@marie-Jo ... you can always add a decorative p;anel at the bottom to lengthen it
Sue Jalowiec
@kathy Mitered squares ... yes and no ... traditional mitered squrares are garter stitch, but we can do something similar
Rosalee T
Thanks so much, Sue
Marie-Jo C
.. I'll try another one !!!
Lyn R
Bye
Nina L
ditto on Great Info!!!
Kathy W
Can you do mitered squares on mk?
Marie-Jo C
Unfortunately, my slip stitch swatch is not long enough for the sideway garment ! I'l
Mary Ann B
Thanks! Great Info.
Jean S
Another great Tuesday get together...thanks Sue and Matt!
Sue Jalowiec
bye bye!
Cynthia P
sorry just for hand knitting i think
Laurel M
Good job Sue!
Jean S
Thanks Cynthia P!
Cynthia P
i just researched McCalls patterns for knitting machines. they have lots of them so next week i will let you know if they are still available.
Maryann B
and some with pieces still to be joined
Cara B
I made a pattern for a queen sized "blanket" I try to find for next week
Teresa F
Thanks! I have a lot of hand knit patterns I'd love o try. Apart from the maths, I may give them a go!! x
Jean S
It also uses up some of your "stash" leaving room for more yarn....lol
Marlene D
Dan I knit a scarf with short rows from a pattern I never a book
Nancy R
Are they cut and stitch?
Cynthia P
i wonder if they still have those patterns since you can often buy old patterns from years ago
Maryann B
yes I have some
Michelle E
I have a bunch of those
Nancy M
we need to exercise our imaginations as we analyze patterns
Michelle E
Used on the knit leader
Cynthia P
you can do top down with raglan sleeves. you do the neckband first.
Cara B
I meant with a ribber, duh, sorry guys.
Michelle E
Used a stretch and sew pattern back in the day
Cara B
I think top down could, with a lot of fuss, you have enough needles. And sometimes can do a top down. No a lot of f. Once you get to the divide row, then easier to knit Parts"un

I have to have a pattern with schematics - otherwise it's hard for me to visualize what I'm going to need to do.
Teresa F
my brains gone numb!!! ill have to sit and think about that for a bit!! ^o^
Marlene D
Annie, thank you. I can hand knit the ribbing. Eliminate the curl
Phyllis in Raleigh
Mary, of course, it is Rita's fault that I am here - and really enjoying Knit it Now.
Mary K
I like patterns which schematics too. I'll use HK patterns but often make changes to adapt to my figure, simplify, sometimes changes to parts that I don't like. I get a lot of ideas from store bought garments
SUE E
Audio if fine for me, in fact it's perfect on my end
Nancy R
You can reverse engineer a top down sweater so it is knit on the machine from the bottom up. I do the yokes by hand and they come out great.
Phyllis in Raleigh
Mary, yes, I suspected you were the Mary from TMK!
SUE E
Hi Mary, I'm in Rhode Island
Laurel M
Yes, I often take the schematic and mark stitch count and row count at every place there is shaping called for.
Darcy W
sorry finger hit enter button,I meant I couldn't get gauge
Mary K
Mary K. Im in Chapel Hill. I belong to the TMK group
Phyllis in Raleigh
Hi Mary K, where are you in NC?
Laurel M
You're right, mid gauge is most popular but also sometimes bulky & my Passap
Jane N
More than once I have reversed engineered a schematic from written patterns
Nina L
not so many km patterns out anymore, so converting a lot of necessity; have one on the machine now
Mary Ann B
Thanks for the hint Cara B. I've now done the same.
Nancy R
Love that term - hybrid knitting. :)

I agree with Marianne M... need schematics
Nancy R
I do the same as Annie - Hand knit some parts, and machine knit others.
Marlene D
I’ve made two children’s dresses from knitting book. Marlene from MI
Marianne M
I won't buy a pattern that does not have schematics and then I am choosy about their quality. Some are just as useless as not having them.

The gals in Minnesota do an amazing job with hybrid knitting
Mary K
Mary K - - North Carolina. Hi.
Jane N
Hybrid knitting (combination hand and machine) common in Minnesota
Annie L
I love to hand knit some parts, machine knit the stockinet parts and add a little crochet. I love the challenge.
Mary Ann B
I have translated a HK pattern for jumper for my granddaughter. Mostly stockinet with some rib for shaping. Used my Knit Leader. She loved it!
Michelle E
Have used a very basic hand knitting pattern on machine
Marelda C
Have used hand knitting patterns
Nancy R
Yes I do
Laurel M
You know I do it constantly :)
Wilma T
I do too. Or make hybrid sweater
Cara B
Sometimes i knit a "blank" with a sewing pattern and serger.
Nancy M
occasionally use both sewing and hand knit patterns.
Phyllis in Raleigh
Matt to support your comment, my iPad is getting better video and audio than my laptop - and the iPad is on a different, faster Wifi.
Darcy W
I couldn't get the gauge to match
Marianne M
Use hand knitting patterns all the time
Cara B
for the glitch, I chose a different speed
Nancy R
I do all the time
Laurel M
Suggestion--choose a HK pattern with schematics to minimize math
Darcy W
I couldn
Maryann B
