[TIP] New Machine Knit-able

A nod to traditional Gansey Sweaters

Gansey Sweaters
Gansey Sweaters

Traditional Gansey (Guernseys and Cornish Knit-Frocks) are labors of love and time consuming to knit by hand.  They are currently popular in the hand knitting world.

Even if you don't have a Garter Carriage, you can get the look of a Gansey with slip and tuck stitch texture on the machine.

Take a simple sweater shape, add texture and you'll have your own traditional sweater in the time it would take a hand knitter to knit a sleeve :o)
The perfect yarn for your Gansey on cones!

What's a G-Carriage?
Many Brother/Knit King standard gauge machines can use this nifty accessory called a garter carriage.   It's a motorized accessory to form both knit and purl stitches across a row.

Affectionately called "the turtle" (because it's slow), these are no longer made.  If you have a Brother standard machine and get an opportunity to purchase one, it will open even more design opportunities for you.
