I tossed 20 cones of yarn

Spring cleaning in October ... there is no prize for hoarding yarn.

They HAD to go ... cones with just a few sad yards left, cones that I "inherited" 20 years ago, ugly 80's brown yarn, wool that was barely holding on with a thread ... yikes!!!

Even after a brutal purging in my new studio, I still have yarn that won't be fun to use .. even as scrap yarn ... why am I keeping this stuff????

Let’s be real: there’s no prize for hoarding the most cones.

I'm keeping what makes me happy. Fun colors, interesting textures AND I'm determined to actually USE it!

Why did I ship this? ??

Maybe it's time for some spring cleaning at your house. I challenge you to donate, toss or USE some of that forgotten stash yarn. Let's make room for the yarn that truly sparks joy!

I have halved my yarn stash along with halving all the tools and accessories that I have collected over the years. I sold most of it on EBay and made quite a bit of cash that is coming in favourably. I am knitting socks, blankets, fingerless mittens, fancy fillagree scarves hats - both children and adults - matinee sets that consist of cardigan, hat, shorts that I call a nappy cover, mittens & bootees which everyone seems to love thank goodness and dog coats, in various colours Everything seems to do well when I do the Craft Fairs as everything is Hand Crafted Machine knitted Knitwear and is worth having a stash that we love xx

I try. My thin wool yarn became wristwarmers for christmas. Now i plan socks for stashbusting. Bought 10 kilo to experiment, when started machineknitting. I still have a lot of it. New yarn buying just for special planned projects. But throwing away cones?I can't. 2 useless cones in the last years, everything else stays.

This is going to be my stash-busting winter. My destashing will include making as many charity hats, scarves etc...as possible. The scraps too small for a project are either wound for waste yarn or used for stuffing in 'poufs', along with fabric scraps. I've bought suitable dye for colours I don't like. Nervous about that plan as I don't want to dye anyone's hair if they get caught in the rain! But I'm going to get that stash under control!

I kinda did that last year I got my nine year old granddaughter interested in Mk and she used up a lot of my craft yarn making blankets that we donated to a animal shelter

I probably have loads that I won't use.. But I might end up using them for scrap yarn lol... Or maybe run 2 or 3 together to see if it works... Who knows... Lol ??
