Following your manual and follow Knit it Now tutorials and exercises in a focused, organized manner will go a long way towards understanding what each button and lever does.

Example: (Hold)

For example, combined with the needle positions, the "hold" setting is used for:
  • Short Rows (partial knitting)
  • Free pass (move your carriage from one side to the other without dropping stitches)
  • Create stitch patterns on manual machines
