A Passap knitter asked the following.  Can you help?

my biggest problem when using patterns for single bed machine is when im told to put needles on "hold"....dont seem to be able to do that with Passap because it bends the needles when I try to pass over them

The only way to put needles on hold is to use the pushers and knit using 'bx' on the 80 or 'lx' on 6000; Passaps don't like needles extending, and yes they will bend and break when the locks go through. The pusher should be all the way toward the floor for the needles that you want to hold, the same rules apply as in the japanese machines (only 1 needle can be placed on hold on the same side of the locks); to prevent holes in the fabric, make sure you pass the yarn under the previous needle of the one that just knitted. To put needles back to work, just put the pushers in the middle position. Using a little bit of weight helps with holding the fabric down. Note: when using BX or LX make sure that you use pushers for every single needle that you want to knit; needles whose corresponding pushers are not in the middle (active) position; will not knit.

Sorry, couple more things, in the Passap world 'hold' is called 'graduation'; even if you only own a 6000, download the manual of the 80 and read through. The 'assumption' back in the day was that owners of the 80 will 'upgrade' to the 6000, hence the 6000 manual does not have the passap 'basics'. So the user that needs to understand how to 'hold' in single bed knitting, they need to read the 'graduations' section of the 80 manual; also, since the beds are reversed in Passap, single bed knitting should be performed on the front bed only, which fully supports 'graduations'

@Alex Theodossis Thank you!
Isn't it interesting that we can accomplish the same things with the Japanese machines and Passap, but the logic and terminology is so different?

Your advice about the manuals is great!
