I am trying to figure out armhole shaping..all garments that I have knitted to date, I have opted for straight armholes.
I have been looking at all the tutorials but all show binding off and decreasing at the right hand side (of the machine...left side of the garment.)  What is the best way to decrease the other side...or is it possible to decrease, for example 6 stitches at the end of a row?  or is it always at the beginning of a row but even then I think binding off left to right is somewhat awkward.
Can anyone point me to the relevant tutorial.
Thanks
Josephine

If you are knitting a pullover or back, knitting both armholes, you will bind off on the carriage side, knit 1 row, then bind off on the opposite side (where the carriage is)

You can't bind off both sides on the same row.  In other words, you always bind off on the carriage side.

Decreases (by transferring stitches) CAN be worked on the same row.

Make sense?
