Which do you knit first?  The Front Bands or the Neck Band?

I agree, knitters choice.  In addition to knitting, I am also a quilter.  I generally attach the side borders first, then add the top and bottom borders.  I have also done it with adding the top and bottom first.  I like the look both ways.  If YOU like collar first and then the button bands, then it is a success.  If other people don't, that's their problem.  Quite frankly, if you don't point it out, chances are really good someone else won't notice, especially if they do not knit.  If you do not like the look, unravel your knitting and redo it.  Nobody will know if you don't tell them......
