The video on creating vertical bands recommends trying a slip stitch to create a neat folding line. When I look for instructions on how to create a slip stitch, I'm directed to use my punchcards. But, obviously I don't want to create an intricate design--just a slip stitch down the middle.

What am I missing?

Hi Rachel!
That technique is really good and do-able on a manual or punchcard machine.

I added some instructions to the video that should help.

Basically you set your machine to slip and select the needles on either side of the center stitch.  Remember ship means needles in Working position (B) will slip while needle in middle or hold position (D-E) will knit.

Here's the link - look for the grey button in the description for the manual method.
