I am knitting a cardigan for a friend.  I am worried that the neck might be a bit too small now that I have finished the first front.  Also, my friend has suggested that she might want a bigger neck than originally thought.
Will cut and sew work for a raglan sleeve sweater?  Do I join the shoulders before marking and cutting?  What is the best way to go about this?

Hi Katheen,
IMHO cut 'n sew for raglan is a great way to go ... On many patterns raglan necklines tend to be too small.

You have 2 choices.

leave one seam open (in the back of the sweater), cut and finish the neck opening, rehang the neckline, pick up and knit a band
Join the last seam. The neckband seam will be in the back, aligned with that last seam.

~or~
Best if you are using sew-as-you-go to attach the sleeves to the body.
Join all the seams, cut and finish the neck opening, knit a band, join it into a circle and manually seam it to the neckline "in the round"

You could re-hang the band in sections and join on the machine, or hand stitch the band in place "sandwiching" the cut edges
