I have knitted a swatch with 3 strands of yarn and now my stiches are in an angle of 45 degrees. I am really frustrate, because i do not know what to do. If i manage to avoid it with my 3 strands, what is going to happen, when i have to set in new strands because the skeins run out? How can i see, what to do?

Pia, what yarn are you using? I know cotton sometimes 'biases', - I knitted a top with cotton/acrylic mixture and it did that...
I also had some fingering weight wool/nylon that biased terribly and the supplier replaced it...

It could be that the yarn is not suitable for machine knitting.  Yarn for weaving is twisted one way and yarn for knitting is twisted the other way - either S (anti-clockwise) or Z (clockwise.)  Z-twist will bias when knitted.  If you don't know what is meant by S and Z twist, hold a strand of yarn vertically between both hands and gently twist it one way and another.   If it is S-twist and suitable for knitting, the individual plies (is that the plural of ply?) will be seen to run from top left to bottom right like the middle of the letter S.  Z-ply is intended for weaving I believe, and the plies run the opposite way.

Hi Pia,
Jenny and Joy are correct ... it not you .. it's the yarn.

Some knitters have had success with plaiting the yarn, but more than likely, you'll need to forget using this yarn on your machine.

Here are some other thoughts on the subject

Thank you very much for your answers. I think my yarn is cotton. I will give it a try in Tuck. If it does not go well, i will trash it. Thank you!
