Through the Eyes of a Machine Knitter
Peppermint Bark Hat
Knit a stranded fairisle hat in a day!Hand knitters would spend at least a week fumbling with 3 colors and twisting strands to knit this hat. With a little pre-planning, you can knit this in a day!
The stitch pattern has only 2 colors per row which makes it a perfect choice for automatic patterning (punchcard or electronics).
The original pattern used Wisdom Yarns Angora Lace, a fine yarn that knits at a standard gauge of 31 stitches and 33 rows per 4 inches.
By drawing inspiration from the original pattern and strategically adjusting stitch repeats, you can knit this hat at any gauge using any yarn.
Double up the brim for extra warmth.
Notice the clever change of color on the brim cast on.
