Ascot Coat - Dynamic Pattern

by Anne Lavene

"Sensuous, flattering, with a hint of eccentricity"
The House of Lavene as done it again! Here is a swing-y, flattering, fun coat with designer accents.

it is knit side to side on the standard machine (no ribber). Short row godets add flair. Simple stitch patterning and choice of yarn add interest.

The coat combines Yeoman Grigna and Brittany yarns.

The garment measurements before crocheting but after steaming:
Centre Back – from neckline to bottom of godet = 22” or 56cm
From Cuff to cuff = 55” or 140cm
Around bottom of cuff = 13” or 16.5cm
Around sleeve at the shoulder = 20” or 51cm
Width of the body under the arms (not including the draping front feature) = 36” or 91.5cm The ‘waterfall’ feature gives the front a fullness up to a 48” bust or 122cm.

The pattern is simple to follow, even for a beginner.

The Instructions for the garment include one of Anne’s secrets: an innovative, visual diagram which will help you see in your mind the shape you will be knitting. Anne has always designed garments in this manner – which also allows modifications without too much hassle. Yeoman Grigna is a soft, highly textured gimp yarn that is a dream to knit and to wear.
