The 110 needles on the Brother KH230 are spaced 9mm apart, making it a bulky/chunky gauge knitting machine. It is specifically designed to handle thicker yarns—such as bulky, aran, and mohair. It does not have an automatic needle selection mechanism, meaning you manually select your needles for intricate patterns. Despite being a manual machine, the carriage allows you to do a wide variety of stitches including slip, tuck, plating, fair-isle (hand-manipulated), and built-in intarsia.
