Do you agree that there is no such thing as a "perfect" pattern?
No matter what patterns you use - vintage, traditional, charting device, software or hand charted, knitters always want to make a few changes here and there.
  • Maybe you want to make fit changes, alter the sleeves, shape the waist, shape the shoulders or add darts.
  • Adding pockets, hoods and collars can add a designer touch to any pattern
  • Often we want to substitute yarns.
Making pattern changes involves math and a bit of understanding of pattern charting.

Let's explore options for modifying existing patterns and adding our own personal touches.

Take a piece of tissue paper into the dressing room. Lay the top you like the fit of, trace out the arm hole and necklines to measure out and use at home.
