yo (yarn over) technique for creating eyelets in machine knitting

Eyelet | yo

Controlled holes used to make lace, small buttonholes and specialized stitch techniques

Similar to a [k2tog, yo] in hand knitting, transferring a single stitch to its neighboring needle will create a hole. Leaving the emptied needle in working position completes the eyelet.

Eyelets can be hand transferred or created with a lace carriage (standard gauge machines only)

Eyelets have many uses including lace, decorative stitches, buttonholes and more.
