Seaming Stitches


It's common practice to leave a plain stitch along edges that will be seamed.
  1. Plain knitting:
    if you work Mattress Stitch
  2. Shaping:
    It's good practice to work increases and decreases at least 1 stitch from the edge, leaving a seaming stitch
  3. Pattern Knitting:
    Keep a single plain stitch at the edge of your knitting for easier seaming
  4. Ribbing:
    Alternating knit and purl stitches, maintaining the rib stitch pattern makes for a professional finish.
