There are so few knitwear designers for machine knitters, our best source of inspiration is from the hand knitting world.
Let's talk about how we can use hand knitting patterns not only for inspiration, but ways to create the designs on our machines.

Joy educated me: The male model I showed in today's presentation is Tom Daley, British Olympic diving gold medalist, he knits and crochets his own knitwear, he used to knit while waiting for his turn.... Apparently his photo has been published quite a bit, but I've been living under a rock. (I still think he could have use a shirt under that vest) LOL

I also like to check out sweaters in the stores to see how they are manufactured, as the majority are machine knitted in factories. I find it interesting to see how sweaters are made by the factories.
Celestine C
I sure will. Thank you so much. I am also in heat beat as well. I am like a sponge absorbing it up!
Celestine C
Where can a complete novice start? I am in the course where it says to swatch and guage. My swatch has been hand washed and as we speak, it's drying. After it has dried, the hat is the next item in the course. Shall I start with the hat? I was hoping to complete the entire courses but you all are so much more knowlegable than me and the patterns sound exciting.
Cherie S
I only use patterns that have a diagram to view. I went through all my old boos and magazines and weeded out the ones that did not include diagrams.
Marie-Jo C
Sorry ! I'm late .. Marie-Jo
Briseida S

If i just want to create the knitting fabric, is there a course for this?

You may need to put in a lifeline for some yarns because some yarns grow when a full piece is knit.
Tina B
I love the intarsia panel idea
Barb B
Thanks Matt for that link to knitting yoke sweaters!
Tina B
150 stitches coud be near enough to 154
Marjorie M
I have heard matching row gauge is harder than stitch gauge.
Joy G
Sue, that's Tom Daley, British Olympic diving gold medallist, he knits and crochets his own knitwear 🙂, he used to knit while waiting for his turn...
Gaby C
Hi from Argentina
Karin R
I never try to match gauge... I do the math and convert the pattern to my gauge
Tina B
Today i use DAK or your patterns and MY gauge
Venita H
no
Tammi B

Mary K
No, I use DAK
Kate S
Not even once
Linda H
Never
Barb B
Nope...
Kate S
Can you talk about issues with getting stitch AND row gauge when converting patterns? What do you do if your stitch gauge is correct, but your row gauge is way off? It’s a relatively easy fix for plain knitting, but a nightmare when doing something with a charted image.
Tina B
not handknit on the machine
Tina B
Match the gauge, that never happened to me
